How To Recover From Burnout

We’ve all been there: pushing ourselves, working hard to get the job done, and not really thinking about ourselves until after the fact. Yeah, we’ve all been burned out at least once. And when we get there, we don’t usually know what to do to take care of ourselves right away. I, being a person who gets burned out pretty often, I’ve come up with a way to get better, sooner, after burn out.

Sleep

When I get burned out, I am exhausted and the first thing I do is sleep. And I don’t mean a little nap, I mean a full night, wake up without an alarm, sleep in type of sleep. Your mind and body need to recharge, and that is what sleep is for.

Take A Day Off

You’ve just finished a huge project or have been super non-stop at work, and now you’re done. Take a day off before going back to work or other responsibilities. Take a day for yourself, relax, and do something you enjoy that’s relaxing like reading or binge watching Netflix.

Pick A New Project

And I mean brand new, not phase 2 of a previous project. Working on something new will get you back into a working mojo and get your excited and interested in working again.

Let Whatever Burned You Out Go

It’s gone, just put it into the universe and let it be. If you keep it with you, you won’t recover.

What do you do to recover after being burned out? Let me know with a comment!
