On Writer’s Block

I have been struggling to write for the past few months, and I know that this happens to so many of us and often.

It is also kind of ironic to be writing about writer’s block, but it seems to be the only thing to get me to write. I know, it’s confusing.

There are times when my writing has to take the back seat to other things in life, especially school since I am finishing my final months of college. And then I get so inspired to do other projects that I get pulled away from writing again. And when I get the chance to sit down and write, I don’t have the motivation and just stare at the blank screen in front of me. It’s a never ending cycle.

Pretty much the purpose of this rant is to share why there has been so little posting happening and how that will probably continue. And if you have followed me for awhile, you know how much I write consistently. 2 posts per blog per week is quite a bit, plus guest writing, running an online publication, and this blog as well. So much of what I do creatively is write, so it was inevitable that I would become burnt out.

That being said, I am going to change the consistency of posting and my schedule for the summer to less posts in a week. New posts are still coming every week, and will total to about 3 new posts a week overall from me on different blogs. It’s the best compromise I can make for my sanity.

How do you keep working and writing with writer’s block? Share in the comments.

  1. I understand how this feels, many of us, like you mentioned, have gone through it and it sucks! Somehow I am able to write posts, ahort stories and flash fiction, but when it comes to advancing on a sotry I have been working for a while I just become blank.
